Toni is ecstatic when her latest make-up with Eric leads to a marriage proposal. Desite the many lows that have accompanied their nine-year relationship, each of them is sure the other is their soul mate. There  is nothing the couple can't share. A fact that is never more evident than when a wild night in Reno, just weeks before they wedding day, leads to a threesome with another woman. The wild times continue and the days leading up to the wedding are a blur of sex and drugs.
Things grow more complicated when shortly after their wedding the couple is expecting their third child. For Toni, the adjustment to being both married and an expectant mother become the central themes in her life. For Eric, the party never stops and he continues to live like a man with no commitment. Though disappointed in Eric's actions, Toni consles herself with the thoughts of the normalcy that will return to their relationship once she gives birth. A beautiful baby girl is born but Toni soon realizes that nothing will ever be the same for the couple again. When all is said and done, will this wife and mother be able to repair the damage done to her relationship or will she be forced to leave in order to secure the health and happiness of herself and her children?

Q&A With Leila Jefferson, Author of "He's A Keeper"

Q:  When did you decide you wanted to write?

A:  Writing has always been apart of me. I’ve always loved to write poetry and short stories. Reading is also a big part of me, so I began actually penning a novel in my mid 20’s when I wanted to read things I could more relate to.

Q: How many novels in all have you written?

A:  I just finished my fourth one.

Q:  How long did it take you to write your first novel?

A:  About six months. That’s usually the time it takes from the time I write the first word until I feel I’m done.

Q:   Where do you get your inspiration for your stories? Are the characters based on real people?

A:  It comes from everywhere. Situations I’ve been in, situations I’ve heard of, what if scenarios. I have a wild imagination, lol.

Q:  After writing your first novel, did you self-publish?? If so, how was that experience?

A:  Yes, I went through The process itself was pretty easy, and I did it only with hopes of having a completed novel in my hand, so the experience was a pretty good one. The experience became great when my current publisher saw an excerpt of my work and inquired on me submitting to them.

Q:   What feedback have you received from fans?

A:  People are pretty receptive of my work. I hear that my storylines aren’t far fetched and my characters are relatable. Of course now, everyone wants to know what happened to Toni(He’s a Keeper)

Q:   What authors do you admire? Did one of them inspire you?

A:  I love Terry McMillan, Eric Jerome Dickey, Mary B Morrison, Noire, Nikki Turner and I’m sure a host of others. I guess I could say my love for reading a good story inspired me to begin writing as well.

Q:   Is writing your only passion?

A:  Writing and reading

Q:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A:  In 5 years, I still want to be creative, being able to put out a quality story every 6 months. I’d also like to be able to help other authors trying to make their way by maybe doing workshops or something like that.

Q:   What advice would you give aspiring authors?

A:  Keep that pen moving! Becoming a better writer means always fine tuning yourself. There’s always something to be learned in the publishing game. I’d say read too. The best writers are usually avid readers as well.

Q: What would you like readers to learn from your stories?

A:  I’m a fiction writer and I write for entertainment, but there is usually something kind of message you can get from a story I unfold because I do write about people that live everyday lives.

Q:  Are you working on another novel? If so, What is it about?

A:  Yes, I just completed my next novel entitled Every Man’s Dream. It’s about 2 women and a man that wind up in a threesome relationship and all the drama they deal with in that situation.

Q: Where can people purchase your books? Do you have a website?

A:  My website is Books can be purchased at, and Urban Knowledge Bookstores. Distribution is still being worked out so that the books will be in all major bookstores.
