Q&A With Kisha Green, Author of " And Even If I Did"

Q:  When did you decide you wanted to write?

A:  I have always been an avid reader of different genres but I would say it finally hit me when I began reading books by African American authors and finished many books thinking I could have wrote that (lol) and I was also able to identify with the characters more so than the books I had been reading.

Q:  How many novels in all have you written?

A:  I have 4 written and 1 published thus far

Q:  How long did it take you to write your first novel?

A:  About a year on and off

Q:  Where do you get your inspiration for your stories? Are the characters based on real people?

A:  They are based on real people, my inspiration for my debut novel came from always hearing about drama females had with their supposed to be friends and so forth and my own. I figured why not write a story about it, but in general I just take life experiences and put my own personal spin on it.

Q:  After writing your first novel, did you self-publish?? If so, how was that experience?

A:  Originally I got signed to a small publishing company but that turned out to be a scam of a company so that experience left a bad taste in my mouth, so I decided to self publish since I had a story I wanted to tell.

Q:  What feedback have you received from fans?

A:  I have received great feedback, everyone says they liked the book and that in itself has been a great feeling since I love to hear what people have to say regardless good or bad.

Q:  What authors do you admire? Did one of them inspire you?

A:  There are so many talented authors out there but when I first started reading books for leisure it was books my Mom purchased and those were Jackie Collins, V.C. Andrews, Mary Higgins Clark and Stephan King so those were my favorites then someone gave me Omar Tyree's Flyy Girl and I was like wow! It intrigued me to read more works by black authors since I hadn't in the past. So my library has a wild assortment of books.

Q:  Is writing your only passion?

A:   No, that and the Internet. I am addicted to both!(lol)

Q:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A:  A successful author and publisher taking Literary Hollywood by storm (lol)

Q:  What advice would you give aspiring authors?

A:  Remember that writing should be pleasurable and enjoyable. Surround yourself with positive people and remember everyone doesn't always have your best interest at heart! Research and network but most of all have fun.

Q:  What would you like readers to learn from your stories?

A: Not so much as to learn but basically they can easily identify with them because they are that realistic but really be able to sit down and get that whole mini movie in your mind.

Q:  Are you working on another novel? If so, What is it about?

A:   I am working on releasing my second novel "The Decisions We Make" it is a romance novel about a couple who both are aspiring authors and then one night changes everything, the guy is accused of rape and basically the story is about their trials and tribulations as a couple after being hit with such a tragedy but can their love survive?

Q:  Where can people purchase your books? Do you have a website?

A:  My book can be purchased from Amazon.com  and other online bookstores. Yes, I have a  website it  is www.kishagreenonline.com So on stop by and don't forget to sign my guestbook!
