PWLGB: When did you decide you wanted to write?
TF: About a year and a half ago. I'm not that
author that wanted to be a writer since I first picked up a pencil.
PWLGB: How long did it take you to write your first
novel?
TF: It took me about three months of writing
everyday. I tried to write a chapter a day.
PWLGB: I have never read anything like "Swingers"
before, I was riveted from the first page! Where did you get the inspiration for the story? Are the characters based
on real people?
TF: Yes the story is based on real people and
actual events. I have a lot of friends that are into the Swinging lifestyle and they all said it was cool if I wrote the story.
PWLGB: Would you tell us a little about "Swingers"?
TF: Swingers is about a couple that get caught
up in the Swinging lifestyle. They both have their own motives for wanting to be in the lifestyle. They dive head first into
a world that will eventually cost them everything. Egos are checked and loyalty is tested. They learn that sometimes the person
you tell everything to, is the same person that you shouldn't tell anything. A lot of life's hard lessons are learned.
PWLGB: Do you plan to write a sequel to "Swingers"?
TF: I'm writing it right now. It's a working
title "Swingers II....Guilt by Association"
PWLGB: After writing your first novel, did
you self-publish?? If so, how was that experience?
TF: I never self-published. My books are published
by Two of a Kind Publishing out of Charlotte, N.C.
PWLGB: What feedback have you received from fans?
TF: 90% of the feedback is positive. A lot of
people are comparing me to Zane and that is a HUGE compliment. I want more people to read my book and come away with a open-mind
about sex and the way people choose to have it.
PWLGB: What authors do you admire? Did one of them
inspire you?
TF: I really admire Zane, Shannon Holmes and
this is gonna sound a little strange but my favorite is J.K. Rowlings (Author of Harry Potter) She's amazing.
PWLGB: Is writing your only passion?
TF: No. My first passion is cooking. I love
to cook. I'm a big Italian food fan
PWLGB: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
TF: I want to have my own publishing company
with about 5 or 6 authors.
PWLGB: What advice would you give aspiring authors?
TF: Be different!!! The story of the girl that
get hooked up with a drug dealer but love him, has been told a million different ways. Come up with something new. Tell
a different story. Study your topic; find out all you can about it. And last, write what you know about. There is nothing
worst than seeing an author from Harvard and a upper class family trying to write a story about the ghetto.
PWLGB: What would you like readers to learn from your stories?
TF: To be open- minded towards people's choices
and lifestyles. Be able to see where somebody else is coming from.
PWLGB: Where can people purchase your books? Do
you have a website?
TF: My books can be purchased at any bookstore across
America (Walden's, Borders, Books-a-Million, Barnes and Nobles, etc...) It can also be picked up at my website www.torrianferguson.com I would like everyone that read the book to go to www.amazon.com and write a review for me. Good bad or ugly I want to know
what people think. Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me, I really appreciate it. Also I would like to tell
everyone that I have started my own publicity company. We are looking for authors and poets. My website is www.fergusonliterarygroup.4t.com
